Student Grant Opportunities

HCNHS Student Travel Grant Program

The HCNHS Student Travel Grant Program has been established to support travel of undergraduate and graduate students related to research.  Only HCNHS students may apply for these competitive funds to present the results of their TCU research or to conduct research related to their field of study.  Maximum award is $500 for domestic travel and $750 for an international destination.  Limited funds are available and are awarded at three different times throughout the year to accommodate when students might need to apply for travel. Grant awards will be determined, up to the fund limits, by the Associate Dean of Research, Dr. Rhea.

  • Completed application forms must be submitted by one of the three dates below to Alex Rivchun, Research Center Projects Manager, 2002 Bass Building or a.rivchun@tcu.edu. All travel awards will be announced two weeks after the submission due date.

October 3, 2017        Travel Oct 15 through Feb 14, 2018

February 1, 2018       Travel Feb 15 through May, 2018

May 4, 2017                Travel June 1 through October 14, 2018

  • Please note that all applications must contain the endorsements of the Department Advisor/Chair.
  • Priority will be given to students who have not received a previous HCNHS travel award, and students may not receive more than one award during an academic year (June 1 through May 31).
  • Only one student per presentation submitted can be considered for a travel grant.

HCNHS Student Research Grant

The HCNHS Student Research and Creative Scholarship Grant Program has been established to support HCNHS undergraduate and graduate student projects/research.  Only HCNHS students may apply for these competitive funds to support their projects/research.  It is expected that grants will be awarded to a student and faculty mentor pair.  TCU undergraduate students from any major within HCNHS and at any level of study will be eligible, along with a TCU full-time faculty member mentor.  Maximum award of $500.  Limited funds are available and are awarded at two different times throughout the year to accommodate when students might need to apply for support. The award will be made directly to the student and may be used to pay for supplies or other expenses directly related to the project.  Grant awards will be determined, up to the fund limits, by the Associate Dean of Research, Dr. Rhea.

Mentors and students are expected to participate throughout the year in assessment of the support initiative. If a student receives an award for research support, then in turn they will be expected to present at the student research symposium in the spring.
